Expectations & policies
Clear expectations protect both sides. If anything here feels unclear, ask. We’d rather be precise than poetic.
Condition and grading
Offers are based on condition. Condition grading uses TCGPlayer grading standards. We’ll call out any notable wear (whitening, dents, scratches, clouding, warping). For premium items, we may request close-ups before quoting.
Quote rules
- Quotes are estimates until cards are physically received and verified.
- Quotes may expire if market prices move. We’ll state the validity window in the quote.
- If a card differs from expectations, we’ll show you the adjustment before finalizing.
Timelines
- Receipt confirmation: typically within 24–48 hours after delivery.
- Final review: depends on lot size, but we’ll set an expectation when you ship.
- Payment: after you approve the final offer.
If we ever expect a delay, you’ll hear it first from us, not your anxiety.
How we determine our offers
The short version: We typically pay 50-70% of current TCGPlayer market value, depending on the card's condition, demand, and how easily we can resell it.
Why this range?
We're transparent about our costs because we want you to understand the offer you're getting:
Our TCGPlayer selling costs:
- 10.75% marketplace commission
- 2.5-3% payment processing
- $0.30 per transaction
- Shipping materials & postage ($1-3 per order)
- Total platform costs: ~15-20% of sale price
This means when we buy a card at 65% of market value and sell it at market price, we're typically netting 15-20% profit after platform fees and shipping. That margin covers our time evaluating collections, managing inventory, customer service, and the risk that cards drop in value before they sell.
What affects your offer percentage
High-value staples (65-70% of market value)
- Modern/Legacy fetchlands and shocklands in LP-NM condition
- Format staples that sell quickly
- Reserved List cards in verified condition
- Example: Polluted Delta (Khans) LP at $13.50 market = $8.75-9.50 offer
Standard & rotating cards (50-60% of market value)
- Standard-legal cards more than 6 months old
- Cards about to rotate or recently banned
- Higher risk = lower percentage to protect both of us
- Example: Standard mythic at $10 market = $5-6 offer
Bulk rates
- Commons/Uncommons: $5-10 per 1,000 cards (sorted)
- Bulk rares (sub-$1 cards): $0.10-0.25 each
- Unsorted bulk: $3-5 per 1,000 cards
Why condition & set matter (a lot)
The Polluted Delta example:
- Khans of Tarkir version (LP): $13.50 market → $8.75-9.50 offer
- Onslaught version (LP): $70 market → $45-49 offer
Same name, 5x different value. Set symbol identification is critical—we always verify before finalizing offers.
Our condition grades:
- Near Mint (NM): Looks pack-fresh, minimal wear
- Lightly Played (LP): Minor edge wear, light scratches
- Moderately Played (MP): Visible wear, whitening on edges
- Heavily Played (HP): Major wear but still tournament legal
- Damaged (DMG): Creases, tears, water damage
We include photo examples and detailed condition grading in our offers to eliminate surprises.
Our philosophy: No surprises
Unlike stores that lowball with vague "competitive rates," we show you:
Current market prices
From TCGPlayer, with dates
Our buylist percentage
And why we chose it
Our assumptions
Condition, set, quantity
What could change the offer
If our assumptions are wrong
If you disagree with our assessment, we'll walk you through the reasoning. If your cards are worth more than we thought, we adjust the offer up. If they're worth less (wrong set, worse condition), we adjust down and explain why.
No bait-and-switch. No hidden gotchas.

Example offers
Collection 1: Modern staples (local meetup)
- 4x Polluted Delta (Khans, LP): $54 market → $35-38
- 1x Marsh Flats (Zendikar, LP): $20.50 market → $13-14
- 1x Verdant Catacombs (Zendikar, LP): $21.50 market → $14-15
- Total: $96 market value → $62-67 cash offer (65-70%)
Collection 2: Rotating standard cards
- 20 Standard rares averaging $3 each: $60 market → $30-36 (50-60%)
- Lower percentage reflects rotation risk and slower sales
Collection 3: Bulk + high-value mix
- 2,000 sorted commons/uncommons: $10-20
- 50 bulk rares: $5-12
- 1x Tundra (Revised, HP): $350 market → $210-245 (60-70%, condition-dependent)
